Professor He Wei is the only ophthalmologist in China with memberships in the American, European, Japanese and Chinese Ophthalmological Societies. As an ophthalmologist returned from Japan, he accepted the exclusive interview by CCTV News, Topics in Focus and Oriental Horizon. He undertakes major national scientific research projects such as the National Key Basic Research and Development Plan (973 Plan), the National Health Commission’s research projects in public welfare, and has successively gotten dozens of national patents.
Speciality: diagnosis and treatment of difficult eye diseases such as cataract, vitreoretinopathy and ocular trauma. He is the first returnee ophthalmologist to carry out phacoemulsification surgery, vitrectomy surgery and laser treatment of myopia in China. He has profound knowledge in the fields of ophthalmic microsurgery, retinal stem cells, optic nerve protection drugs and ophthalmic gene detection.
